So, happily in my zone and puttering in the kitchen, tunes come into my head and I sing while doing housework, chopping up some feed for the cluckers, toasting a bagel, happily singing Rock the Casbah to myself, Clash, 1982 (I was 32 when it came out). Then I remembered that singing that song in the wrong place could get me beheaded. Fuck this world sometimes, you know? There are days I just disengage and live in the present, be here now kind of stuff. And I sing when I am happy, and tunes from the past always come out of my mouth. Nostalgia for a simpler time. The pop music was danceable, Reagan sent ships to the Falkland Islands was the big military event, and Bladerunner, one of the best movies was in theaters. Sharif don't like it, and we didn't care, we thought we could rock the Casbah and dance. There's no going back and I pity the younger folks who have no idea how free and easy it all was, we ruled the world as Americans, and felt safe everywhere. How naive. https://www.youtube.com/watchv=bJ9r8LMU9bQ
