This video misses one of the more important aspects of the re-public that’s been removed constitutionally.

As the states are intended to be largely sovereign within the US compact, the senate was originally elected by the states themselves to give the states representation in Congress and act as a check on the baser whims of the public at large. Someone please check me if I’m wrong, but the original (states) purpose of the US was largely an interstate trade compact to aid in defense of the states as a whole.

This was removed by the 17th amendment... (17th amendment. Huh. Could it be?) Anyhow, it made the senate directly elected by the public, removing state representation, and making the senate and HoR basically the same but on different intervals.

There are aspects of this war that are reliant on us, but this may not be one of them. It is worth being aware of, though.
