I hardly think a death by any means in the royal family would constitute an "existential catastrophe for the United Kingdom." Existential, in its normal usage, means a dire threat to the existence (i.e, "existential") being or continuation of the UK. Something like a nuclear threat or a biological pathogen or real pandemic (not the BS "pandemic" they sold over the covid hoax) would constitute a real existential threat.

The recent deaths of Queen Elizabeth and her husband before that was not considered an existential threat. It must be something quite dire if they're calling it that.
