Guess it's time to create a backup hosts file incase shit hits the fan. Including search engines like metacrawler will be key.
Honestly even if they took down ICANN it's not going to take down dns servers or routing relays. I'm sure all the ISPs have their stuff backed up and cached incase of emergencies. ICANN is more about validating dns' not hosting, DNS brokers can function without it.
The only real way to take down the internet is to either shut down the power grid or shut down all the ISPs.
Of course if all the big ISPs are in on it they can certainly try -- or if the good guys need to work with the ISPs to shut down the internet it's certainly possible.
But nothing short of a solar flare or total loss of power is going to bring down the net.
