But yes, indeed it is an excellent film, mostly historically accurate, and a family tradition of ours that we watch it every year on July 1st-3rd. If I look at it like a film series, there's Gettysburg, then The Patriot the as the prequel, and Spielberg's Lincoln as the sequel.
"Turn" was a pretty accurate show about the revolution as well. There were some liberties taken, but overall it does a good job depicting the espionage component of the revolution.
