What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
Quit and running but zero empathy. He's just not charismatic or simpatico.
I thought I replied earlier...so in case a dupe comes back you know what happened...basically IIRC everyone he worked with thought he was an asshole...real shame...and here we see just how much because Carson - the master - would have LOVED Varney's background and attitude and everything, not tried to belittle it. Chase just shits on it... you can tell he's just thinking "the pond would be good for you."
Edit: now some irony is, given how Murray (who I think is highly overrated personally) let being a Big Movie Star go to his head (for the forgettable attempt at HST adaptation "Where the Buffalo Roam") at SNL and pissed everyone there off too, Chase's treatment of him in that scene in Caddyshack is at least understandable. (I also get the pedo vibe off Murray btw...part of the reason I'm not a big fan....)
And wasn't Varney a Shakespeare actor too?
Reminds me of an old homeschool book called Understood Betsy, where the girl's snob aunt in the city has books for show, even the girl is an accessory. When she's in the country, with the relatives that snob aunt deplores, the girl learns how to function and thrive. And the unused books by famous authors in the city were actually read and discussed in the country.
Looks like an interesting read, even if aimed at young adults (so was Watership Down, a favorite of mine).
Oh yeah, elementary school curriculum. But I loved teaching it, because it demonstrates an awakening to individualism, true living/living true, and self worth via hard work and merit.
