I'm confused by this one, must be early

That there are two genders NOW. The two-gendered civilizations won.

Y'all have GOT to get better at recognizing AI-generated nonsense, this keeps happening

I mean, except one is a light on a wall and the other is a rat cage strapped to your face

Correct! And seeing that level of support, or lack thereof, caused Jim Jordan to step down. He wasn't forced out by the vote procedurally, but socially.

The secret ballot allowing people to vote without reprisal is why we probably won't see the plot twist of Speaker Trump.

But also, you make a good point - less than a week in, those who want JJ to go are standing fairly firm. But the same people who don't want him are mostly the same people who get really worried about Congress not accomplishing anything, especially military spending for empire maintenance projects. Whereas the 8 above and allies are absolutely peachy keen fine to just sit around and NOT give Warhawk Biden his murder allowance this time.

Of course, there's still the Senate, but I start to get hazy on just how much can be done without the House at all. These kinds of scenarios weren't really covered too thoroughly back in high school.

Three quarters of those housed in California jails are awaiting trial. Over 1300 of them have been waiting for over three years. Over 300 have been waiting for more than five years.

This is not new (while this is certainly VP Harris' legacy, she just continued shit), and its certainly not confined to the partial amount of Californian counties that comprise the data set. A man named Hartfeld or something spent 30+ years without a trial, maybe in Texas. This is one of the big things prison reformers agitate over that rarely hits the mainstream.

It's funny seeing people just now realize that you can spend decades in an American prison without a trial. People just assume it won't happen to them and don't care until it affects them or someone like them, I guess.

Huh, it was my understanding he chose to drop out after the results of the secret ballot, which was a temperature-getting, confidence vote and not a binding resolution or anything. Could be wrong.

Isn't it a little embarrassing to publish this thing about "voting with the team" right before the secret ballot results come out with Jim Jordan yesses trailing noes by about forty votes, and then he pulls his own name?

Or are you thinking this is all just distraction/preamble for a "surprise" announcement for DJT as speaker on Monday?

This was the Bush administration but without the irony

And the CIA's many ventures down south before that, we've backed all sorts of tactics and engaged in them ourselves all over the place

That's... almost always been true? That is true of most governments? I mean, throughout history, most taxation systems included payouts for the recruitment and training of someone who would be considered an agent of violent terror by someone else.

That's why it was such a big deal that Jesus broke bread with a tax collector (Nicodemus? Or was that Zachariah? One of them was really short?) - this was a guy collecting taxes from his family and neighbors, fellow Jews, for THE OCCUPYING INVASION FORCE that was the Romans. He was taking his community's money and funneling it back into their own oppression. And yet...

It has been very funny to watch people continue to peddle easily disproven Sandy Hook bs, because for some reason it's really important to prove that mass shootings Don't Just Happen In America, while in the years since the number of mass shootings has only risen. Time was, people with a steady mind just accepted that was the price of living in a country with more guns than people. Don't like it? Canada's right there.

But no, let's continue to harass people who went through one of the worst things a human can experience based on a twitter rando's deep research, instead of showing that one can be for the free and easy movement of guns of all sorts AND compassionate towards victims of gun violence.

You don't see knife enthusiasts deny stabbings, because it turns out it's really easy to like knives AND dislike stabbings??

It's so bat-shit to consider having skin that isn't white. How does that even happen?

..."missing" as in kidnapped or murdered. It's pointing out the perceived disparity between how often missing blonde girls make the news while missing native girls make the back page of the Sav-Mor

So, was Trump comming about this?

1
WhaleWatcher 1 point ago +1 / -0

I kept telling people that secret ballots means we won't get a Trump speakership (not the play anyway, as funny and normie head-explodey as it would be), but I was just told "there's no secret ballots for speaker!"
