I wonder what the software is? Sounds HR and/or medical record related.
Supposedly a piece of software called MOVEit. A file transfer software. Don't have it in our environment luckily but there are so many avenues of attack in IT and individuals can't onow every piece of software/hardware in and out so misconfiguration is possible avenue of attack.
Makes perfect sense to attack during file transfer.
That's a good question. I wonder if it's actually software based, or cloud based. That would be a huge no-no if the gov't body is using a cloud service.
I'm no IT wizard so please be kind if i'm way off track.
Like Amazon Cloud? Wasn't the Pentagon using that at one point?

MOVEit File transfer software.

Hmmm. Code talk?
AWS will be the "weak point" for their future attacks it seems. Very easy for them to hit the "off" button if many are using it. Then they could easily claim it as a "Russian hack" or anyone else they want to blame it on.
I seem to recall they were using what amounts to a copy of it. With technical support from Amazon.
Not using the Civilian version. Though it’s been a while since that bit of information came out. So I could be remembering wrong
That would have been my guess if it does involve a cloud service. I feel like I've heard that in the past, the Pentagon using it, but I really don't recall much about it. The only thing I think I remember was some type of fight between Amazon and Microsoft (maybe?) on who will get the contract.
Reddit, Google and Microsoft are getting hit too on down detector.
Don't know about the Pentagon. When I was a contractor for DHS they were using AWS.
Sounds like Microsoft Windows. Without a secure antivirus to lock it down, it is wide open to attack.
