Long ago a Swiss Army Vet in Zurich explained that red handled knives like I had, are for officers only. The infantry are issued a metal handled knife with two good blades and a great beer opener. I've lost four knives to airport security since 9/11. I forget, then I go buy another one. When I was growing up it was expected you had it and you kept it sharp. It's like having your keys and wallet. Pocket knives have only been a problem since 9/11. They used to keep it for you on airplanes if you forgot to check it, and then give it back. (Oh right I forgot, them did all that hijacking with box cutters.) It ought to be in the constitution, pocket knives for guys at least.
