My feeling is don't push anyone too hard. There is a limit to how far the mind can swing. Push it too far and it will swing back even harder in the other direction.
Be gentle, assess what is relevant for them and what they are most likely to accept. There are a host of areas through which one can slowly break down and shatter their existent illusions. From a point of openness, then one can perceive truth even without the need for deliberate guidance.
Focus more on removing their illusions and less on convincing them of the truth.
