That would explain a lot. Here we have been thinking the politicians just don't want to or feel they are required to listen to the voices of the voters. See where I'm going with this?

My roommate from college works for a congressman, he told me back in 2012 that Mitt had actually won Florida but Obama folks used some system manipulation in the vote there, who knows where else. Not that Mitt was any prize but history could have been different.
I'm pretty sure Mitt Romney and John McCain worked together to screw Ron Paul out of the 2012 primaries. The algorithm was essentially, "flip voting so Romney always comes out on top." Of course the media went out of their way (and still does) to act like Ron Paul does not exist and his rallies did not have huge crowds.
The media supplied the talking-points before most of us (outside of Washington) even knew what a talking-point was, much less how effectively they can be used to manipulate opinion -- I mean, every channel speaking the same lines, every day. They also made fun of anyone who raised concerns about his background, even though he had been considered a foreign student for years. At the time, we didn't know it, but they were just getting warmed up.
Certainly pelosi. McConnell has had legitimate opposition, always defeated in the dnc primaries for the establishment pick. It's primaries and generals. Has been for decades. Don't forget hung Chad
