I mean. Not for nothing, guys...but this is all in line with what we were expecting.
There were lawful remedies at each major point in the process where someone in a position of power had a chance to do the correct action. They chose instead to ignore their duty, and punt (Think republican state legislatures at the start of the fraud, republican governors and secretaries of state upon calls for investigation, SCOTUS with the Texas case (and all subsequent judges with all subsequent cases), and finally VP with the dueling electors).
At each point, there was a clear, obvious course of action that would clear the air and allow for a clean, resolved election (state legislatures having the spine to object to certification until credible disputes were resolved, governors and secretaries of state doing meaningful investigations to confirm or refute the allegations, SCOTUS simply hearing the Texas case, or the VP calling out that the dispute exists in the batleground states, and it needs to be resolved prior to accepting for certification). And each point, the responsibility was punted to someone else, until Pence decided to do the final punt to run out the clock.
Nobody acted in good faith as a means of ensuring the Constitutional process was followed through as intended. Every check failed to do as required - which is a great way to legitimize an illegitimate election....save for one.
The military. We all knew every effort, from public to private, was going to go against Trump in this. Further, there was a zero percent chance that Trump even gets into office to begin with without some substantial support from within (do we honestly believe he conducted his political campaign entirely independently?).
I always felt that, unless the military helped conduct a sting operation on November 3rd and obtained what it needed to prove fraud, then Trump had a zero percent chance of having his second term. I refuse to believe that Trump felt he could do it, otherwise.
What we are seeing at this point is just theater, with everyone showing their hands. Big Tech and the government establishment is throwing their weight in, showing you where they stand. And now it is up to Trump to show us that he is as intelligent and capable as we all have come to believe (because many of us had our doubts for a great deal of time).
January 6th was the end of the Constitutional remedy. Between now and the 20th, we will see if Trump and his military allies had the strength and competence to complete the biggest sting in the history of the modern world.
I know I am here to help others around me understand what happened if and when that moment does happen.
Thanks for this analysis. I know a lot of people are looking for direction and trying to sort through the events of yesterday, which can rightfully placed in the "fog of war" category.
