So why on earth would they be impeaching a man who has 13 days left, especially with such obvious haste and fear?
Because for 13 days he's got the legal reins of the military and and can still hurt them.
They're terrified. He's not done.

They plan imprisoning him and punishing him to the fullest extent of the law. This could be the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end
