As soon as the post read, "such that humanity would never allow it to happen again," I was immediately reminded of Frank Herbert's masterpiece, God Emperor of Dune, wherein the main character, Leto II, the God Emperor, etches the trauma of his rule onto the genetic memory of his subjects so deeply, through the power of nearly complete clairvoyance and clockwork precision over a span of 5000 years, that humanity as a whole has been fortified against all signs of such tyranny for the future.
