This logic forces us to hold all unconfirmed accounts as unconfirmed, just because someone re-posts press-releases and tweets doesn't mean it's legit.

What about the gab Trump account we know is restored tweets? It's as legit as the Telegram account in question.

The point is that the tag was used only with regards to the president

IMO that's unfortunate. I think a "Mirror" tag would be more suited. But mirroring what? Always mirroring Twitter, fine. Suddenly posting other platforms? Well, it gets iffy for users to discern where the info is coming from. Twitter, the WH, posted directly on Telegram?

countless scams on telegram went unreported and untagged

Well, let's report them then. In my experience, running several groups on Telegram myself reported scammers are thrown off the platform, not tagged.
