I really don't remember they ever found the body ... maybe he had enough informations about the dad assassination to become dangerous. Maybe they stage a plane crash to make them ghosts. I don't know but look possible if you jump with parachute and some organization. You need 2 paratroopers a boat new documents and a secret destination. It's easier and more Probable.
My memory is fuzzy and I haven't gone back to verify, but I remember people were questioning why the Navy (or maybe Coast Guard?) was searching so long for his body. I believe Bill Clinton released a statement saying something like the Kennedy family was akin to an American Institution so the longer than normal search time should be appropriate. I just can't remember if they had an actual burial at sea or if they just had a ceremony at sea. I'll have to read up on it when I get to a computer.
I recall that they did a burial at see, very few of the family were there as I recall (there are a butt load of Kennedys and perhaps they didn't want to sink the ship with all those extras, but it seemed strange to me at the time).
Here's an old news article about it:
Chicago Tribune JFK death
Senator Kennedy is listed as having "made the arrangements" to cremate, and then bury at sea the remains found in the wreckage. Looking back on the whole thing, knowing what is now known about the people involved, it's definitely strange.
Yes they did. Navy retrieved the plane. Cremated and his ashes were thrown into the water during funeral on a us navy vessel. And the crash report is public record as is his flight record. Night flying with no instruments takes an experienced pilot. No horizon. He should not have made that trip. The sister was late and they lost daylight.
A friend who always fed JFK Jr & Carolyn's dog and cat went to their apartment after the shock of the accident wore off to take care of them and their pets weren't there.
They knew they were never coming back...
