(U) Selection, as applied to manual and electronic processing activities, means the intentional insertion of a name, cable address, telex number or answer back, address, telephone number, email address, or other alphanumeric device or identifier into a computer scan dictionary or manual scan guide for the purpose of identifying messages or information of interest and isolating them for further processing.
