Sad to say somehow I raised a raging liberal. Not that he isn't surrounded by other family members that agree, but still. Anyway, I fear we may be one of those Civil War households. I told him to keep it down (playing a video game God this post just keeps getting more depressing) and he had a meltdown about how Trump is a fascist dictator. Didn't think it was the time to send this Babylon Bee article LOL. https://babylonbee.com/news/dangerous-fascist-dictator-censored-and-voted-out-of-office If there's any good news in this story, I think whatever HE reads to get his information must be chock full of pure PANIC. Otherwise you'd think he'd be glad to be rid of Orange Man Bad in a few days.

Even from a hardcore conservitave state, as a young 20's college student, it is social suicide to be a Republican and all it takes is to simply identify as one. 'Friends' will no longer associate with you and it's nearly impossible to find a woman who is willing to look your way if you are a conservative. I am in a city, so that explains it all, but the lengths our youth have taken this is absurd and outragous. I often liken conservatism to having basic morals and values, because the other side has neither. I'm afraid it only gets worse from here, I never would have thought it would be a 'sin' to hold a basic belief. After hearing about the group of Harvard grads going around trying to get right wingers stripped of their degrees, I'm worried, and forced into silence. Here I am though, I will always stand tall, all the way down to my final breath. I may be young, but I quickly learned that if you always do what YOU believe to be the right thing, then life has a way of working itself out accordingly.
I am a female professional in a major metropolitan area. It cracks me up how people assume they know my political views. It happens almost daily. When they find out that I lean right (pretty heavily) the cognitive dissonance is palpable, visible even. It's like watching a robot short circuit. Then they get really angry. It's amusing, mildly. Then they try to shame you in front of other people, probably because it usually works. Could care less. I'm like the Ricky Gervais of my community, only not as funny.
They always try to tell me, 'majority of college educated people lean left'. To that I tell them, 'take out all the fine arts majors and check again' ? Growing up, bad eggs aside, I have seen nothing but respect, acceptance, and debate from the right. Lefties are obviously incapable of any of the three, spare a few.
