Pro prepper tip: always buy foods you would normally eat anyways. That way if shit doesn't hit the fan you're not wasting your prep, and you don't take it away from someone else. (Also, don't tell IRL friends/neighbors about your prep or you'll be Target #1 when SHTF.)
Just some (hopefully) helpful tips from an east coast resident who's dealt with a few hurricanes.
I mostly eat fresh food, so it was difficult to only buy stuff I normally eat lol
I bought rice and beans as the base because I know I can eat them regardless of what happens even if it takes a year to work through the amount I got hahahaha. I also got a ton of flour and yeast so I can make my own bread/tortillas (generator) And then canned fruits and veggies that I like
And I don't know any of my neighbors, so no one knows lol.
I've got a cupboard with cans of food
Filtered water, and pictures of you
And I'm not coming out until this is all over
And I'm looking through the glass
Where the light bends at the cracks
And I'm screaming at the top of my lungs
Pretending the echoes belong to someone
Someone I used to know
[Chorus]
And we become
Silhouettes when our bodies finally go
[Verse 2]
I wanted to walk through the empty streets
And feel something constant under my feet
But all the news reports recommended that I stay indoors
Because the air outside will make
Our cells divide at an alarming rate
Until our shells simply cannot hold all our insides in
And that's when we'll explode
And it won't be a pretty sight
[Chorus]
And we'll become
Silhouettes when our bodies finally go
And we'll become (And we'll become, and we'll become)
Silhouettes when our bodies finally go
And we'll become (And we'll become, and we'll become)
Silhouettes when our bodies finally go
And we'll become (And we'll become, and we'll become)
Silhouettes when our bodies finally go
[Outro]
(And we'll become, and we'll become
And we'll become, and we'll become)
I got a cabinet full of ramen, a wood stove, a well, and a generator. I'm good.
We just bought a generator, too.
Everywhere around us is out of propane! Which is crazy. I bought tons of rice, beans, bottled water, canned goods, and some basic survival stuff.
I don't know if anything is going to affect me over here, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Sounds like you did great! I've been researching a (very tiny) bit and those were the two big takeaways I've seen.
Stay safe, fren!
popcorn
Oh I got a ton of popcorn, too! I have an air popper, so I bought a huge tub of kernels :)

Omg. That brought me back to the good ole days (highschool). Can't go wrong with the postal service. :)
