That’s exactly how I see them, a life of privilege but still grounded enough to be in touch with average joes.

There was a thread on askreddit after Trump was elected in 2016 asking about people's real interactions with Trump, and one of the common themes (other than Trump just being a great person to meet) was that he kind of dreaded being around the elites, but loved meeting normal, average people.

I've heard this too! I heard he would go into a room filled with elites and basically ignore them and strike up conversations with waitstaff lol

Also heard he would eat his lunch with the guys working construction on jobsites instead of the bigwig people.
