These lands, as we have seen, are still owned by the British Crown as the head of the old Virginia Company. Then there is the United States of America, capital ‘U’ and ‘S’, which is the 68 square miles of land west of the Potomac River on which is built the federal capital, Washington DC and the District of Columbia. The United States of America is not a country, it is a corporation and the citizens are marketed, that’s why you get ALL CAPS from the government.
