Continuing to press for the 2nd Impeachment provides some cover for Congress for not pressing forward 100mph on the 'Biden agenda'. We're seeing the House and Senate break from long-standing rules and procedures, as if they are flailing aimlessly, trying to make something stick and still appear in control.
With Shumer in charge of the Senate, they could make this drag out (while tabling all other work) to keep bringing in more evidence.
I think that like the 1st impeachment, the Senate should review the 'evidence' presented by the House at submittal, and allow only that evidence as the prosecution. Trump lawyers should be allowed to present a full defense - and provide their own evidence (with standing).
Why not make the DJT defense case about the stealing of the election, which was a root cause to Patriots coming to DC en masse on 1/6/21. By not taking up investigation of vote fraud claims, the courts and states are complicit in the Capitol riot.
FWIW - I think the entire idea is a smokescreen. No presentation of 'evidence' in the House proceedings, just charges. Maybe they are considering 'the insurrection' to include the entire 'Q' movement and the military occupation, but they would (should) have to prove DJT involvement and direct call to action.
They are setting themselves up for a lot of 'discovery'....
