Been using iTubeStudio for six months now, nothing going wrong with anything on my iMac. They have good IT. In the beginning I couldn't get the green tab to work that showed up at the top of downloadeable videos, had to copy the URL and paste it in the app. But they fixed it in a few weeks, works fine.
I used atubecatcher to download from YT, but sometimes you get an error message and can't download anything, and I assume that YT caught up to it and then the atube people make an update and it works again. I think you can use it for other sites, but I mainly use it for YT.
I'm using yD - Youtube downloader for FireFox. It seemed like the least intrusive (options were very limited at the time), and I keep it disabled until I want to use it.
You can try this one (let me know how it works for you - I haven't tried it):
I used to use something similar but it refused to D/L some of the videos I wanted. And then it stopped working for anything I cared about. Some of these require you to install a "helper" program, which is probably very risky. So be cautious when using any of these downloaders.
A friend of mine uses a plugin in Mozilla for Twitter downloads. She also uses AVC (Any Video Converter) for most other sites. She has no idea how to grab Gab and some newer platforms, so she doesn't even bother watching stuff on those platforms.
Flag the video as 'racist', it will be ripped from the web in no time!
OBS
I use Snagit.
if you have nvidia or amd gfx card, you can use their software to capture the desktop
the only problem is, you have to let it play out to record it
these are necessary for streams
if the video is a file instead of a stream, then you can use any extention for your browser that says something like "downloader"
i use "video downloadhelper" extention for these files
I use iTubeStudio. Used to be a lot of free ones, some would leave a "button" in your page header and just click on it.
Have you used the web to actually search for one?
