The evidence just needs to be presented on a national stage. What the Senate does with it is irrelevant.

Did you read Congress' indictment that forced the Senate to vote? They clearly spell out Trump's claims about election fraud before Jan. 6th. as part of their reason for impeachment, not just the faux insurrection.
