Sorry, I've tried looking it up, but in this context, what does "puppy show" mean?

I assumed it was comparing the Puppy Bowl to the Super Bowl. (The Puppy Bowl is an annual Animal Planet event on TV where teams of rescue puppies get points for dragging dog toys over the end zones on a football field.)

It's one of those cute little dumb things they do on Super Bowl Sunday. So I had read this drop as if the Super Bowl were as small/cutesy as the Puppy Bowl, and something even bigger than the actual Super Bowl would go down.
