A new fairy tale for adults.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on its website warned of the possibility of a new pandemic due to the Nipah virus (Nipah) or NiV, the mortality rate from which can range from 40 to 75 percent. The virus was first detected in 1999 in Malaysia among pig farmers living on the Nipah River, from where the disease got its name. The infection was transmitted to humans as a result of contact with sick pigs. Those, in turn, were infected after eating dates - these fruits could remain the urine of flying foxes, natural carriers of the virus. Nipah, like the coronavirus, occurs in various forms-from asymptomatic to fatal encephalitis. The incubation period is from four to 45 days. The first symptoms are similar to the flu: people have fever, headache and muscle pain, vomiting and sore throat. Subsequently, dizziness, drowsiness and altered consciousness may also be added, and in some cases, doctors fix atypical pneumonia and acute respiratory failure. In particularly severe cases, encephalitis and convulsions develop, leading to a coma after two or three days.
