Greek. First two letters: Alpha and Beta.

But Greek is a descendant of Phoenician. So it all comes from the same root. Latin just happened to have the fortune of being geographically close to Greece.

Latin comes from Rome, rome stole much from previous heritage Greek from semetic people groups, Canaanites, Hebrews, Phoenicians. Dig!! Dig deep!!
