I am however curious to know what critical thinking avenue they could sell me. It's the achilles heel of the media. Oh wait, for them to get that would require critical thinking.

Gaslighting would be their specialty if they didn't perfect the strawman. Most of fact checking is stawman tactics. Create a fake enemy ie. "qanon" that the uninformed attach to the real enemy ie. "Q". Rinse and repeat as needed.
