I don't doubt that there are actually people who need help during this, but I feel this mayor's pain. We have grown relatives in Texas (I'm talking in their 30's) right now who did absolutely nothing to prepare for this weather event. Grown, educated adults with plenty of money- they're quite well off- who knew this was coming but did nothing to get ready for it. They did not stock up on firewood (they have a fireplace), food or water, or FORMULA FOR THEIR BABY, etc. They could have easily afforded a nice generator or at the least, space heaters for when the power cycles on (it's too cold for their heat pump to warm the house for the short time they do have power.) They did nothing ahead of time to protect their pipes from freezing. And now they're complaining that they don't have water or food, are cold, can't get formula, etc.
If they weren't grown people who should know better I would feel sorry for them but I don't. I'm disgusted with them. (Although I do feel sorry for the kids, ugh.) I know people around them warned them ahead of time. So in their case, they have no one to blame but themselves. On the other hand, I can see that there are folks who are not able to prepare for whatever reason, and I would hope that their local government has something set up for them. It's just people like our relatives are an added burden now who will take resources from others who could not help themselves, simply because they will need assistance/help when they could have easily prepared.
My son fits this description exactly, we told him weeks ago to prepare. One of my kids listened, the other one didn't. Both my kids think I wear a tin foil hat. Both are without power, one is comfortable & the other one is complaining about Gov. Abbott.
I was agreeing with you! Sorry if it seemed like I wasn't- I've been aggravated about those dummies all day long and I guess that came through in my comment. Lol.

Nope
I don’t have issue with what he said. I think your commentary demonstrates his point.
