The “real-world” evidence from both Israel and the UK shows that the vaccines prevent not only symptoms but are good enough at preventing infection to the extent that transmission is cut substantially too. One of the reasons why herd-immunity becomes possible with enough vaccine coverage. None of this was certain before (and there was no way knowing until the data that we have now became available).
