Of course he was embarrassed - he was caught. If you know what you are doing is wrong you will be embarrassed unless you are also a sociopath
Sex is a highly inappropriate thing to think about with children on screen so that makes it highly suspect. At the least it's unprofessional. If you are right and he was in a daze thinking about adult sex then - he can't control his sexual addiction at work, so he shouldn't have a position of trust.
At worst he is a pedo thinking about kids. I would bet he has child porn at his home and should have a warrant brought against him.
In this case you have to err on the side of child safety and assume the worst.
In addition public displays of ludity like that are an arrestable offense in most states even if you can't prove he was thinking about children.
Assume the worst means since it's already an arrestable offense for public ludity it warrants looking into with an investigation by appropriate law. You sign statements as a state worker and have to undergo background checks to work with students. This incident out to trigger a deeper background check..
I see where you are going with red flag laws but that is one neighbors or family members word against another on sanity etc. This guy did a public display for all to see.
He should be fired at the least. It isn't professional conduct. Those unions have too much power.
'public ludity' is the key here, he was in his own 'private' home and.... the lesson was over, so he was no longer in the office of state worker (I hope this is true because I have not seen the video nor do I care too) he was not doing it into the camera to be seen, but according to the report by fox, was off to the side of the screen. He thought the camera was off.
I have never in my life felt like defended someone caught doing this, but for an unexplainable reason, after seeing him talk, I think he is genuine. Believe me, I tend to be 'its a guilty verdict' with anything to do with this matter.
I commented similar in this post too. I expect to get stoned for what I said, but thanks PepeSee for some common sense too.
That's the most important point here. I can understand if they don't want to press charges, even tho a crime was committed like it or not, but refusing to fire the guy? That just seems like a can of worms I wouldn't want to touch with 6.9 foot pole
