I can access the GA community from my phone like normal, which is to be expected, but AVAST stops me from coming here on my computer, and like many people have said, just add an exception to the anti-virus.
Thing is, I can't access any .win site. Not OmegaCanada, not Patriots, not even Funny. When I go to check my AVAST, it doesn't say the greatawakening.win or omegacanda.win, it says authenticator.win
This is just my tired ramblings, but what if there really is a phishing attempt going on in the authentication process before any of us even get to these sites. Shouldn't this be taken with a grain of salt, and have the process checked by admins to see what the problem is instead of instantly getting rid of AVAST, or adding am exception? Maybe that is what this wants you to do, so it can get your info.
Authentication.win is the site that allows a service called single sign on to work across all .win sites.
You know how Gulag (Google) allows you to sign in once and access Gmail, youtube and search with your account by only signing into one? Same thing.
I've worked in IT for DoD and civilian. Authentication.win seems legit to me. Either the antivirus is politically motivated, a false positive (very common) or some other authority the antivirus gets info from marked it as phishing.
I'll repeat something I say here alot. If you are staying logged in, you are very very likely okay. If you are logged out, CHECK FOR HTTPS try a bad password, try the same bad password again. If it let's you in, GTFO. If it fails log in with real password. Pretty solid way to make sure someone isn't in the middle.if your traffic.
My person view of antivirus is it is largely unnecessary. Good internet practice will always beat AV. Something like Brave browser or Firefox with some setting tweaks and plugins is usually a solid way to protect. But also don't click on sketchy skit, don't load JS on sketchy sites, don't download files from unknown hosts. This is just my opinion and what I do myself.
Getting close to headed to bed for the evening, but if you have questions or other things you are seeing, happy to help answer questions and look at concerns.
I had the exact same thing happen to me. only today, never before. I saw the phishing thing too. I waited like 2 hrs and then ditched it. I GUESS I LIKE THIS PLACE.
AVG is doing the same thing
