An eThought by Sondra Walker
Spring follows Winter . . .
Have you ever given thought as to why the Lord arranged the seasons where spring would follow winter? Have you considered that possibly, in His infinite wisdom, He wanted us to grasp the idea that the cold, harsh winters of life will eventually give way to springtime? That we WILL bloom again, rejoicing in the warm sunshine of knowing that we made it through and came out on the other side . . . stronger, better . . . with perfect peace!
Do you think there is a chance the Lord wanted to give us HOPE and remind us that He makes all things new? By His power, barren landscapes of white and gray will explode with all the colors on the artist's canvas. Flowers will flourish and leaves will stretch out once again on the trees.
God is truly magnificent . . . and creative! Maybe spring follows winter as a reminder that, while the world will try to rob you of all joy, leaving you paralyzed with cold despair, God alone will scatter sunshine and breathe new life! He says He will give life abundantly. Spring should remind us that eternity awaits and it's going to be . . . well . . . better than anything our minds can fathom. That is, if we choose Christ, stand firm, and persevere until the end. Then . . . our reward will come, in the form of heaven. Much like spring follows winter!
"There, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10 (NIV)
"I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word, I put my hope." Psalm 130:5 (NIV)
The best thing I've learned and strengthened my faith in God is that there are some species of plants that will only grow after a forest fire. It signals a new era of the forest, perfectly designed as part of a larger cycle. After trauma, new breeds of men step forward to make us stronger, more resilient, and hopeful.
