They usually do a monthly test. So this would be normal.

Not normal at all. I had my phone for 3+ years and I only got these EBS texts starting 1/20 (same as OP).

Really. Ok, I thought it was normal. They do them here every month and the tornado sirens every Wednesday at noon.
