The thing is that almost all major NATO armies are reduced in size and strength due to military budget cuts and etc. so Russia could possibly overrun a large part of Europe without much resistance.

the strength of the russian army is greatly overestimated. Just for the little skirmish in Ukraine they had to use up to 1/3 of their active personnel and yet failed miserably to achieve their goals. Nukes are their only real asset.
