Sunlight can fry the top layer of my skin, skin cells, whatever. Isn’t it safe to think it could also kill a virus?
Better alternative is to take Vitamin D3 via a supplement and maybe 30 minutes of late afternoon sun.
Late afternoon is useless. To produce vitamin D from cholesterol and to kill bugs, you need to be outside around midday in summer for 20 minutes. And don't use sunscreen. The chemicals in it might cause cancer.
Dermatologically speaking, late afternoon sun is far less likely to cause skin cancer. Hence, my recommendation. Most people cannot acquire adequate levels of Vit. D solely from sunlight. Preventing one disease to cause another is somewhat injudicious. Supplementation is advisable to benefit from its antiviral effects.
I’ve just been going tanning. After a “dark winter” (haha see what I did there, I mean cloudy) in the Midwest plus everything else depressing about this world, I’ll risk the skin cancer.
If you're below 80 years old, not on an antihypertensive, diabetic or morbidly obese, you are at near zero risk of complications if exposed. If you become symptomatic:
