I watched every interview I could find and read quite a few more. The one thing that really struck me was that they for the most part (except in large cities) didn't even know what was going on at all, took care of their own communities, bored through it as well as they could. That was a real and true extra virulent flu, from what I could see, and propaganda and politics only made things worse in close cities where people let themselves be a part of the mass hysteria... so a lot like today, though the hysteria is harder to avoid.
