I lost my first husband to addiction in 2009. The doctors kept prescribing him meds for his back until he went to heroin. His family wouldn't help. My family wouldn't help. The doctors wouldn't help. I still think he overdosed on purpose to be free of the pain. It was the most difficult thing I had to endure alone. Bless your family for being there by her side. I am so sorry you are experiencing this situation. You guys are in my prayers. xoxo
Your story touched me. I registered on this site because of what you wrote. I can relate so much with your comments regarding your husband, although I have not thought to go to heroin. My back is bad, I have been on the table more times than I have fingers and toes. I am blessed as I have a compassionate pain doctor who will and continues to prescribe pain medications. There has been a war against pain doctors and those who are in pain. I can relate how your husband went to drugs, to escape his pain. Some escape by going to a large extreme to get relief and sometimes that path has deadly consequences. In that dark space, some options do cross your mind that seem to solve your immediate needs without immediate perception of the impact to others. If your husband was not getting relief, please understand that 24x7 constant pain alters one's perception of life. it consumes you and affects everyone around you, as you are painfully aware.
I am sorry that you, your family and your husband had to experience this first hand.
Hey fren, Husband also deals with really bad back pain.. he has found relief with "Kratom" which is still legal were we live and a natural plant that helps with pain. Also I would suggest chiropractic sessions, they too help tremendously. Bless you and I hope this helps. Stay strong fren ❤️
Thanks for the kind words and suggestions. I have been meaning to try Kratom. The problem I have is that a fair amount of my pain is nerve based and there is just no relief from nerve pain. I have tried ever western medicine based drug. Chiro wont help me at this point, as I have had so many surgeries and procedures. I am also fortunate that my pain doc does prescribe a fairly strong course of meds, but since it's nerve pain nothing really touches it. I am going to try the Kratom in the next week or two. Thanks my friend.
