My family has been in the mortuary business for over forty years and we have seen this first hand. Typically we pick up ER cases from the ER but this year the second someone flat lines in the ER they are tagged covid and rushed to the “covid morgue” asap. That’s the only time you see hospital employees moving with a sense of urgency this year. Disgusting and pathetic!
Also, a little off topic but relates. I see 4 different doctors for various health problems. During covid, they were all pushing virtual appointments (and can still charge full exam rate). But I told them if they cant hear my heart or lungs, no reason to get this virtual exam. I usually see them every 6 months. Went this month and they ALL want to see me again in 1 month. I asked why, never got a reason. I think Drs only want to make up $ they lost when they closed their offices. I'm looking for new doctors.
For less severe hospitalizations, we use the average Medicare payment for respiratory infections and inflammations with major comorbidities or complications in 2017, which was $13,297.
For more severe hospitalizations, we use the average Medicare payment for a respiratory system diagnosis with ventilator support for greater than 96 hours, which was $40,218 per Kaiser.
"Right now Medicare has determined that if you have a COVID-19 admission to the hospital you’ll get paid $13,000. If that COVID-19 patient goes on a ventilator, you get $39,000; three times as much. Nobody can tell me, after 35 years in the world of medicine, that sometimes those kinds of things [have] impact on what we do.”
Michigan got almost $130,000 less per patient than the national average, according to the report, which analyzed CARES Act funds and coronavirus case counts as of April 10.
While the national average in federal assistance per patient was $160,286, Michigan’s allotment was just $31,045 per patient.
By comparison, Hawaii got $299,855 per patient; Montana’s allotment was $305,488 per patient. North Dakota’s hospitals got $327,570 per patient, according to the report.

Couldn't find this link on Google (go figure). Had to use DDG.
and that's why I moved north for so long - they did not have a hospital in that county and people did not go bat crap crazy
why do you think people who died from a car accident and transported to a hospital was diagnosed COVID? $$

I don't do regular checkups. It just gives them a chance to rig something.
Right?! The virtual visit thing is insulting! My mom's dermatologist wanted to do her annual spot check virtually..?!
