His target is your soul, and he corrupts it through your mind and through your body (with lies, vices and many other types of filth).
Purity of mind and body invite the Spirit of God and His presence protects you spiritually and influences you towards a path that brings true peace and happiness.
If you've never had a real experience with the Holy Spirit, seek to. It is life changing. Start praying to God in the name of Jesus Christ and ask for a knowledge of his love. If your heart is truly willing to commit to Him upon receiving an answer, he will make himself known to you in a way that you will recognize and can't deny.
God is very real, and so is the devil. We are in a spiritual war, and you have to wake up to the existence of the spiritual realm before you can even begin to fight the good fight.
