My younger brother went to HS with Marty Friedman. I've often wondered about why he broke from the band and moved to Japan.

Laurel HS is correct. My bro said Marty spent alot of time helping others learn guitar licks and hung out at the local music store alot. Also, if you still have contact with drummer, fwd this to him to share with dad. It should ring some bells. I grew up in Laurel 11 years ahead of my brother - a shitty, liberal DC suburb, and this blew my mind for life.
