Because those two independent senators are both super liberal: Angus King of Maine, and....... Bernie Sanders. And the Dem Vice President will break a 50/50 tie.
I'm with you on Bernie (maybe not cabal, but definitely a wolf in sheep's clothing) -- if he'd gotten the Dem nomination, his finance connections would have torpedoed him during the general election and Trump would have his second term.

I consider Bernie and Trump two sides of the same coin: two polar opposites appealing to the farthest ends of their base, promising to fix anything and solve everything -- they're music men.
