I want off this planet. I want to be seperated fron the Dummies. I can't take the mass stupidity anymore. I used to love Sci Fi movies, but living in one is a fricken nightmare.
I can't understand the people who are rushing to get the Vax. I used to think I was of average intelligence, but I gotta tell you, these buffoons make me feel like a genius. Or maybe it's just that I have complete faith in God and they have none. It's sad. But their lack of faith is destroying the planet, which is infuriating.
Ok just needed to rant, sorry.
There was a children's book I read many, many years ago when I was a child.
It was called "The Lemming Condition."
Looks like it was written by a man named Alan Arkin. Nice to see something is still around.
The story is about a young lemming who sees his family packing up to go on their trip. He doesn't know where or why. He's not even sure if lemmings can swim.
He meets an old lemming who is bitter about his own kind, due to their foolishness of suddenly deciding to run off cliffs.
Then there's the day when the lemmings all turn into robots and charge off the cliffs. Only our protagonist and the old lemming refuse the call, and the old lemming dies when the mob pushes him off the cliff with them.
In the morning our main character sees the sole survivors -- some lemming babies too young to follow the crowd. Our hero declares that he himself is not a lemming. When they ask him what he is, he says: "I'll tell you when I find out" and marches the opposite direction of the cliff.
Lemmings don't really do this. Guess how this myth got started? DISNEY forced a bunch to run off a cliff and filmed it for a movie. Of course, if Hollywood shows it, then it must be true, right? I believed this my whole life. When I found the truth out recently, it was another step in my awakening.
Yeah, it is a myth. But the children's book remains a good one.
