My work has implemented a policy where only vaccinated employees can remove their masks. If you choose not to declare your vaccination status, or declare that you're unvaxed then you have to continue wearing the mask (and possibly stand out among the crowd), or face disciplinary action - possibly including termination.
My question is: do I wait it out, or risk speaking up and possibly losing my job? I don't want to lie about my status or circumvent the policy and feel like I'm watching over my shoulder at all times. I don't want to take part in the lies anymore and I shouldn't have to feel ostracized for that. I know AFLD has resources, but I think I should talk to someone within the company first.
I don't have tons of people I can talk to about this IRL, so I'm really hoping I can get some helpful words here.
Read the ICAN website first. It's called Religious persecution or discrimination. If you want to make a difference, sacrifice yourself for the good of all. One person files a lawsuit - a second will. Once there are 3 lawsuits - businesses quickly change their tune. These people - not specifically your employer - but the ones who are pushing this mentality don't care about your employer. They want your employer's business to dissolve. A few employers will be sacrificed - but it;s the only way we get other businesses to wake up. Notice that most of the major corporations don't have these mandates. The goal is to have monopolies in every industry.
