some context
sometimes i sleep on the couch downstairs because it gets too hot in my room. the couch isn't flat so sometimes i put a pillow on the right side of my head, so my head doesn't lean over and cause stiff neck. there is a mirror above the couch(some say a mirror is a gateway to the spirit realm). my cat is also next to me on the floor.
while in this position im breathing through my nose and then i hear a clear exhale of breath. i didn't hear it in my left or right ear. i just heard it. but it wasn't like hearing a voice in my head. i heard it outside of my head. i quickly let out my own exhale to see if it was just me breathing hard and it sounded nothing like what i heard
im writing this because it wasn't something that i mistaken for something else. i heard it clear as day and the room was quiet enough that it was undoubtedly not my own noise
i always believed in apparitions and external noises but i never experienced them personally and whenever i come across something "otherworldly" i always triple check to make sure its not just my imagination. there is a lot of unconfirmed stuff that i seen that sometimes could be explained like doors closing on its own or seeing black orbs in my peripheral vision but none of that stood out as much as what i experienced this morning
Did the demon from hell's breathing stop when you held your breath?
i only heard one exhale. it wasn't continuous

I occasionally experience this and sometimes, just as I drift off to sleep, I get the sensation I'm suddenly falling and occasionally my hands grab my legs and it jump-scares me because by instincts think something is attacking me.
All of these things are explainable and fairly mundane.
The human brain is a nightmare of poorly designed false feedback. For example, did you know we value gold and gems only because shiny things confuses our brain into incorrectly triggering emotions that we feel when we value things. All of our appreciation of architecture, t-shirt designs and visual art is similarly because our brains confuse real emotions with false emotions that are created by certain colors and patters.
That said, if you are legitimately being attacked by demonic forces from hell, can you please ask them to stop tangling my earphone cords, hiding my car keys and stealing parking spaces from me? Demons have no respect. I don't get no respect at all!
thing is, its not like i was 15 mins into trying to fall asleep. this happened under 2 mins right after i laid down. meaning i was wide awake and the sound was so clear like it was right on me. while i agree with what you said, i think this is much more than a simple body malfunction
Perhaps you simply fell asleep faster than you realized and you aren't riddled with demons?
