The original painting was created March 18, 2020, by Christian Joy Trinidad, a Filipino artist. He named the piece Maskcommunication.

Still, I recall that masks weren't even a thing on March 18, 2020. That was when we were being discouraged from using them so that we didn't deplete the stock of professional tik-tok video content creatores...oops, I mean "health professionals".
