Found those tunnels when I was a kid and BOY did I get my ass whooped! I always thought that the shins were wierd but I thought maybe it was so you didn't get washed away. Glad I was young and dumb and lucky.
There is a movie called Niagara- Marilyn Monroe was in it. I think they filmed some of the scenes in those tunnels.
