This debunking is a bit weak. We already know about "spooky action at a distance" which, in theory, forms the basis for instant communication at any distance across the universe. So not hard to believe that such communication s possible.
Also the comment that the Eben civilisation couldn't develop so quickly belies the fact that we are told that they originated on a different planet but had to migrate because of volcanic actvity.
Do I believe the story? I think it has its basis in fact and includes some fiction (or errors).
If anything, I think it's oversimplified. The universe is huge. I believe that there are many civilisations out there, which have developed faster-than-light travel without the need for random "wormholes".
