I use mine to help release energy. Been playing for decades, but am still shit. I can bluff my way through most songs that, depending on my mood, I can use as an avenue to express it. Even if that occasionally just means making noise to let out some negative energy in a non destructive way. If you can't work out the muscle memory for barre chords at first, practice those, but also learn power chords. Those are easier alternatives to barre chords, but they don't sound as "full" due to less strings involved. Easy chords to start with are C, A, G, E and D. You wouldn't believe the amount of songs that use only those chords in some combination or other.
