Not sure if there's anything behind this, but I have an old cell and have managed to avoid the manufacturer updates. Every third Wednesday of the month since Jan 20th Inauguration day, I received a test from the Commercial Mobile Alert System at 12:50 pm EST. I've never received a test before then.
Interested to see what happens with tomorrow's test and if I'll get another one the following Wednesday which is the 3rd of the month.
No tests to my newer phone controlled by the all powerful Google.
No emergency alert today that I’m aware of. Colorado here.
Hmmm... "Security experts have also long warned that the EAS systems pose security risks. Last year, researchers found dozens of internet-connected, special-purpose servers, used by television and radio stations to interrupt their broadcasts to relay an emergency alert, which they said could allow a hacker to break in and compromise the servers."
